Matthew Clover

Matt qualified as a dentist at Guy’s Hospital in 1998 and spent 7 years as a dentist in the Army. During this time he served in the UK, Germany, Middle East, Balkans and Africa. After a year as a Senior House Officer in the Maxillofacial Department in Portsmouth, he started his 3 year orthodontic training at Bristol University, receiving his doctorate in dental surgery with the top academic prize in 2008.

Matthew is a member of the British and European Orthodontic Societies and the British Dental Association. He is a member of the Local Dental Committee and the General Dental Practice Committee. He has had several papers published in peer-reviewed journals and is a registered specialist with the General Dental Council.



Matt lives near Salisbury with his wife and three children, is a keen cyclist and, if he gets the chance, enjoys fly-fishing on the many chalk streams in Wiltshire and Hampshire.

Isobel Palmer

B.D.S. M.F.D.S. R.C.S.(Edin) M.Orth. R.C.S.(Edin) MSc G.K.T.

Isobel joined Salisbury Orthodontics in August 2016. Isobel qualified as a dentist from Newcastle University in 1998 and worked in General Dental Practice for several years. She also worked in various hospital departments, gaining experience in Restorative, Maxillofacial and Paediatric dentistry. She completed her orthodontic training in 2008 and worked as a specialist in orthodontics at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge until her move to Salisbury.

Margaret Thomas B.D.S. D.Orth. M.Orth. R.C.S.(Eng)

Margaret qualified as a dentist at Guy’s Hospital in 1976 and her first appointment was in the Community Dental Service in Salisbury before moving to a similar post in Devon for 3 years. She then returned to Guy’s in 1985 to start her 3 year postgraduate degree in Orthodontics. This was followed by several hospital appointments at University College Hospital, St George’s Tooting, the Central Middlesex Hospital and the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. Margaret also worked in two Specialist Orthodontic practices in London before establishing Salisbury Orthodontic Practice in 1995.Margaret is a member of the British Orthodontic Society, where she has served on various sub-committees. She is also a member of the British Dental Association, the European Orthodontic Society and the World Federation of Orthodontists. She is a Registered Specialist with the General Dental Council.


Margaret enjoys keeping fit and is a keen follower of sport (except football!) She is an Olympian, having competed in the Seoul Olympics in 1988 in target pistol shooting. She represented Great Britain for 10 years (in over 50 events) but England only once in the Commonwealth Games in Canada in 1994 where she won an individual Silver medal and two bronzes in pairs events. She now spends a lot of her spare time coaching Olympic hopefuls and takes a particular interest in the psychological side of the sport. She also had the honour of being one of the Olympic Torchbearers for the London 2012 Olympics. She is currently coaching members of the England Commonwealth Games Team for Glasgow 2014.

Registered Dental Nurses

Our three nurses are all registered with the General Dental Council and have also all completed the Dental Nurses’ Radiography Course. In addition to this they all undertake regular Continuing Professional Development. We also have a full-time Receptionist.
